Different types of aquatic biomes

A fresh water biome is one that many people over look the importance of. They are smaller bodies of water but just as important. These freshwater biomes include ponds, lakes, streams, rivers and wetlands. Freshwater is defined by having low concentration a low salt concentration - usually 1%. Plants and animals that live in fresh water region adjust to low salt concentration and can not survive in areas of high concentration. The Marine Regions cover about three-fourths of the Earth's surface and includes oceans, coral reefs and estuaries. Marine algae supply much of the world's oxygen and take in a huge amount of carbon dioxide. Also the evaporation of the seawater provides rainwater for the land. The coastal areas are constantly changing with various animals and marine plants living at the bottom.
